What an ATM simulator is, explained in under 3 minutes

What an ATM simulator is

Think of a flight simulator — but for ATMs. It’s software that reproduces exactly how an ATM behaves: card readers, cash dispenser, receipt printer, EMV messages and host connectivity — all without a physical machine in front of you. From a browser or virtual lab you can run a transaction, force errors (expired card, out of cash, printer failure, network drop) and watch how the application responds in real time.

In a nutshell, it’s for saving time and avoiding serious problems. Testing in a simulator prevents bugs from reaching production, speeds up deployments and reduces costs because you don’t need to move or maintain dozens of physical ATMs. Modern simulators also integrate with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools, so testing becomes part of the development flow rather than a separate task.

At Serquo we do this with Atmirage and Repliqa: device and host simulation, reproducible scenarios and automatic evidence generation (logs, screenshots, reports) that eases auditing and traceability. The result: fewer field incidents, faster rollouts and confidence when updating critical software. Want a demo? We’ll show you how much time and risk you can save.
